We currently operate approximately 25 volunteer programs in Ballarat, offering a wide range of opportunities including:
At the Base Hospital:
- Welcoming and supporting visitors in areas such as the Emergency Department, Cancer Wellness Centre, Day Procedures Unit and Outpatients Clinics.
- Providing comfort and care to parents and newborns through the Special Care Nursery Cuddle Program
- Assisting patients and guests with navigation around the hospital as part of our Welcome Team
- Helping raise funds by serving customers in the Base Gift Shop
- Driving patients to and from cancer-related appointments using our fleet vehicles
- Supporting older patients experiencing delirium through the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP)
- Conducting patient satisfaction surveys to help improve services
- Engaging patients with books and conversation via the Book Trolley service
- Providing spiritual and pastoral care to patients and visitors during their stay
- Acting as a simulated patient for medical educational purposes
As the Queen Elizabeth Centre:
- Offering warmth and companionship to patients and families in Gandarra Palliative Care
- Supporting individuals at BreastScreen on call back day
- Assisting across medical and allied health services, contributing to patient care and wellbeing
- Engaging with patients to help prevent cognitive decline in Inpatient Rehabilitation Program (HELP)
In our Aged Care Communities:
- Providing companionship and encouraging socialisation of the residents
- assisting with games and fun activities such as cooking and outings
At our Planned Activity Group Centres:
- Helping staff deliver a program of fun and engaging activities to clients
