Dr Jessica Dean is a dual-qualified Intensive Care Specialist and Lawyer with experience in clinical governance, health law, and ethics. She is completing a PhD focused on ethical decision-making in intensive care.
She is Director of the Medicolegal Consultancy Group, which produces research at the intersection of clinical practice and law, and lectures in Health Law at Monash University. Her academic interests include health law, clinical ethics, and the development of moral competency in clinicians.
Dr Dean serves on the boards of Violet, a not-for-profit supporting community advance care planning, and has recently retired from Beyond Blue and the Federal Australian Medical Association. She brings over a decade of board experience across Audit and Finance, Governance and Risk, Clinical Quality, Crisis Management, and Business Transformation. She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a scholarship recipient of the Victorian Government Women’s Board Leadership program.
